Starting pitcher Michael Soroka has been placed on the 15-day injured list with a strained left glute, the team announced on Saturday. The Calgary ative suffered an injury while warming up for the second inning on Friday, and left the game with to discomfort in his posterior left hip.
Before leaving the game, the 28-year-old had a scoreless first inning. Over his starts this season, Soroka is 8-3. His injury marks another hurdle for a squad already struggling with pitching depth.
Meanwhile, outfielder Jordan Lawlar has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a strained right hamstring. Lawlar suffered his injury in the eighth inning of Friday’s win as he sprinted to first base.
In a corresponding move, pitcher Philip Abner and utility man Tim Tawa have been recalled from triple-A.
With these new additions, the Diamondbacks now have 11 players on the injured list.
