It didn’t take long for Adam Foote to land a new gig.
The former Vancouver Canucks head coach is joining the Utah Mammoth as an assistant on a multi-year deal, the team announced on Monday.
Foote joins a coaching staff led by Andre Tourigny, who signed a multi-year contract extension, the team said.
The Canucks fired Foote in May after just one season in which the team finished last in the league with a 25-49-8 record.
Foote, a 54-year-old Toronto native, played 1,154 regular-season NHL games as a defenceman for the Quebec Nordiques, Colorado Avalanche and Columbus Blue Jackets. He won an Olympic gold medal with Team Canada and two Stanley Cups as a player with the Avalanche in 1996 and 2001.
He previously served as an assistant with the Canucks under Rick Tocchet.
Tourigny, 52, has spent five seasons at the helm of the club, including three seasons with the Arizona Coyotes before the team moved to Utah.
He has a 170-195-45 record over 410 games and led the Mammoth to their first playoff appearance in Salt Lake City this season, losing to the Vegas Golden Knights in the first round.
The Mammoth also announced a multi-year extension for assistant Blaine Forsythe.
