The Toronto Blue Jays’ latest trade acquisition could be in line to make his debut Monday.
Infielder Luis Urias has been selected to the Blue Jays’ major-league roster and is active for Monday’s game against the Houston Astros, the team announced ahead of the showdown (Sportsnet, Sportsnet+, 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT).
The Blue Jays acquired Urias over the weekend from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for cash considerations.
Urias, 29, is an eight-year MLB veteran who hasn’t been able to crack the Diamondbacks’ big-league roster this season. He’s previously played for the San Diego Padres, Milwaukee Brewers, Boston Red Sox, Seattle Mariners and Athletics.
He had a slash line of .230/.315/.338 with eight homers in 96 games with the Athletics in 2025.
In his career, Urias holds a slash line of .231/.329/.378 with 60 home runs.
Piñango, meanwhile, has enjoyed a productive first cup of coffee in MLB, batting .283 with a .764 OPS and four home runs in 43 games since being called up in late April.
However, the 24-year-old’s bat has cooled off of late, with just two hits in his last seven games. He hasn’t hit a home run since June 7 against the Baltimore Orioles.
