After a 21-game cameo with the team to end the 2025-26 season, having arrived at the trade deadline, Rosen and the Jets have agreed to a two-year, $1.85-million contract extension.
The new deal will keep Rosen out of next week’s free agency, where the Swedish forward was set to be a restricted free agent.
A 2021 first-round pick, 14th overall, of the Buffalo Sabres, Rosen was acquired alongside Jacob Bryson at the 2026 trade deadline in a package that included Luke Schenn and Logan Stanley going back to Buffalo.
Across 21 games in Winnipeg, Rosen totalled three points in an extended audition, after bouncing between the NHL and AHL in his two-and-a-half seasons with the Sabres.
While Rosen has had a largely ineffective NHL career to this point, with 11 points across 52 games, he’s been much more impactful in the AHL, with 185 points in 231 games with the Sabres’ affiliate, the Rochester Americans.
Now locked into a further two years with Winnipeg, Rosen will get the chance to stick at the highest level after abbreviated stints in the NHL up to this point.
