After starring during the Carolina Hurricanes’ Stanley Cup run, Frederik Andersen is headed to Edmonton.
Andersen agreed to a one-year deal with the Oilers on Wednesday, Sportsnet confirms.
The 36-year-old had an uneven regular season, posting a 16-14-5 record, .874 save percentage and 3.05 goals-against average (GAA) over 35 games.
He locked in his performance for the playoffs, however, helping Carolina cruise through the Eastern Conference side of the bracket in series victories over Ottawa, Philadelphia and Montreal. Andersen also started the first four games of the Stanley Cup Final against Vegas, but faltered and was replaced by Brandon Bussi for the final two games of the series.
For the entire post-season, Andersen went 13-2 with a .910 save percentage and 1.89 GAA.
The 2025-26 season marked the 13th of Andersen’s career. He had spent three seasons with Anaheim, five with Toronto and five with Carolina. In 552 career games, he has a .913 save percentage and 2.59 GAA.
Andersen is the second goalie Edmonton has acquired on Wednesday; the Oilers traded for Devon Levi from the Sabres.
The Oilers now have three NHL goaltenders on the roster with Andersen and Levi joining Tristan Jarry.
