One of the top young arms in baseball is putting pen to paper on a major deal.
The deal will keep Burns in Cincinnati through the 2033 season. According to Rosenthal, the deal doesn’t include any options or deferrals.
Burns, 23, earned his first all-star nod this season in only his second year in the majors.
In 18 starts, the former second-overall pick from the 2024 draft has a 2.54 ERA with a 1.110 WHIP and 118 strikeouts in 102.2 innings pitched.
The former Wake Forest product made his MLB debut in the 2025 season, making 13 appearances (eight starts) and posting a 4.57 ERA and 1.315 WHIP, but had better underlying numbers with a 2.65 FIP.
