Reports: Buccaneers defensive tackle Vita Vea requests trade

A long-time star on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ defence is ready for a change of scenery.

Defensive tackle Vita Vea requested a trade from the Buccaneers on Monday, according to multiple reports.

Vea, 31, has one season left on his current contract and is scheduled to make $18 million next season.

He has played with the Bucs for eight seasons since the team selected him with the 12th-overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Over his eight seasons in Tampa, the six-foot-four, 347-pound tackle was named to two Pro Bowls and helped the Buccaneers win a Super Bowl in 2020.

Vea started all 17 regular-season games for the Buccaneers last season, recording 34 tackles and 4.5 sacks.

The Buccaneers finished 8-9 in 2025 and failed to make the playoffs for the first time in five seasons.
