Mike Trout’s resurgent season has hit a bump in the road.
The Los Angeles Angels placed their star centre-fielder on the injured list with a hamstring strain on Thursday.
Infielder Christian Moore was recalled from triple-A Salt Lake to take Trout’s spot on the roster.
Trout told reporters he suffered the injury in his final at-bat of Wednesday’s loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks, when he grounded out to third. He went 1-for-3 with a single in the loss.
The oft-injured 34-year-old has turned back the clock so far in 2026, playing in 74 games for the Angels in the first half. He is slashing .234/.394/.472 with 17 home runs and seven stolen bases.
Trout was second among American League outfielders in all-star voting upon MLB’s update on Monday.
A three-time AL MVP, Trout has played in more than 100 games in just two seasons since 2021, with 2025 marking the first time he crossed the 120 threshold since 2019.
The Angels enter Thursday’s game against the Athletics at 30-45 — the worst record in the American League.
