Blue Bombers to start Dru Brown at QB vs. Stampeders, Collaros remains out

Dru Brown is going to get another chance to showcase his skills on Friday night.

The quarterback will make his third consecutive start for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (4-2) when they host the Calgary Stampeders (2-4). Brown was atop the depth chart released Thursday.

Brown is replacing star QB Zach Collaros, who will remain on the six-game injured list with a neck injury.

Brown, who started his CFL career with the Blue Bombers in 2021, was reacquired by Winnipeg in a trade with the winless Ottawa Redblacks last month after he lost his starting job to Jake Maier.

Brown has won both his starts with Winnipeg this season, throwing for 656 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.

Canadian rookie Taylor Elgersma will be the backup quarterback for the Blue Bombers.
