The Toronto Blue Jays have George Springer back in the fold as they open a three-game series in San Francisco (9:45 p.m. ET / 6:45 p.m. PT on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+).
Toronto activated Springer from the family emergency medical list on Monday and placed reliever Braydon Fisher on the bereavement list.
Despite being activated, Springer was not in the Blue Jays’ starting lineup against the Giants and right-hander Landen Roupp, as Ernie Clement slotted in at the leadoff spot and rookie Sean Keys started at designated hitter.
Springer and his wife, Charlise, announced the birth of a baby boy on Canada Day, their third child, but the veteran was transferred to the family medical emergency list after his paternity leave expired as he tied up some loose ends.
The 36-year-old has eight home runs in 63 games in 2026 and is slashing .221/.308/.373 with 56 strikeouts and 28 walks.
Fisher has appeared in 43 games for the Blue Jays this season, pitching to a 3.33 ERA with 46 strikeouts in 46 innings.
