Ahead of a matinee in Washington on Wednesday, the Toronto Blue Jays made a pair of roster moves.
Right-handed pitcher Chad Dallas was recalled from triple-A Buffalo, while in a corresponding move, righty CJ Van Eyk was optioned to Buffalo. The moves come just a few weeks after Dallas was sent back down to the minors to make room for Van Eyk.
Dallas has made a pair of appearances for the Blue Jays this season, pitching 4.2 innings with a 1.93 ERA. His last appearance came on July 10 against the San Diego Padres, in which he pitched one inning and allowed a hit while notching a strikeout.
Van Eyk, a second-round pick in 2020, is headed back to the minors on the heels of a rough showing on Tuesday night. In an 8-6 loss to the Nationals, the 27-year-old gave up six hits and two runs in 3.1 innings. On the season, he’s pitched 5.2 innings for the big-league club with an ERA of 4.76.
After Toronto and Washington split the first two games of a three-game series, they’ll play the rubber match on Wednesday with first pitch at 1:05 p.m. ET.
