The Miami Heat posted a link to a July 27 live stream titled “LeBron James introductory press conference” on Tuesday, but later told ESPN it was a mistake.
A spokesperson clarified that the team’s social-media department was simply preparing for the possibility of James signing with the South Florida franchise.
The Heat are reportedly in the mix to be James’ next destination alongside the Cleveland Cavaliers, Philadelphia 76ers and Golden State Warriors.
James previously played for the Heat from 2010-2014, winning two titles and making the Finals all four seasons alongside Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.
Agent Rich Paul said on his podcast Monday that there is no timeline for when James will make his next decision.
Miami already has made one major off-season splash, acquiring two-time MVP and 2021 Finals MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks.
