Orioles place all-star Adley Rutschman on 10-day IL with left wrist inflammation

The Baltimore Orioles will be without their all-star as they look to continue their push towards a playoff spot in the American League.

The Orioles will put their seven-game win streak on the line Monday in Boston against the Red Sox, who have won 13 consecutive contests of their own.

Rutschman, 28, was Baltimore’s lone representative at the Midsummer Classic in Philadelphia as he puts together a bounce-back campaign.

The switch-hitting backstop has slashed .251/.331/.433 with eight home runs through 67 games, ranking fifth in WAR among all catchers in baseball.

Baltimore enters Monday’s series in Boston with a 49-51 record, which puts them two games back of the final wild-card spot in the AL.
