The remainder of all-star catcher Shea Langeliers’s 2026 campaign is in jeopardy as he suffered a torn meniscus in his knee, ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported.
Langeliers, according to Passan, will decide no whether to undergo surgery to repair the tear. Should he go ahead with that option, he’ll miss the rest of the season.
No matter what path he chooses, this all but guarantees the 28-year-old won’t be in play as a trade asset with the Aug. 3 trade deadline approaching, Passan reported.
Langeliers missed Saturday’s game against the Minnesota Twins and now his entire season has been threatened.
Batting .263/.332/.497 with 23 home runs and 51 RBI, Langeliers made his first all-star team this season and was on pace to become just the third catcher in major league history with three consecutive seasons with at least 29 home runs.
