The Atlanta Braves have signed the veteran first baseman to a minor-league deal, Jeff Passan of ESPN reported on Saturday.
Santana played in just eight games this season with the Arizona Diamondbacks before being placed on the injured list with an adductor strain on April 7. He was reinstated from the 60-day IL on June 24 but was released on Friday.
The 40-year-old will now head to triple-A, where he provides organizational depth for Atlanta and can attempt to work his way back to the big leagues.
Santana was an All-Star with the Cleveland Guardians in 2019 and won a Gold Glove with the Minnesota Twins in 2024. This marks his 10th team over a 17-year career.
Atlanta currently sits in first place in the NL East with a 49-31 record.
