Report: Browns’ Denzel Ward becomes highest-paid DB in NFL history

Denzel Ward has entered uncharted territory — again.

The Cleveland Browns star has become the highest-paid defensive back in NFL history for a second time after agreeing to a two-year, $62.2-million extension, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Tuesday.

The $31.1-million salary puts him just ahead of Trent McDuffie ($31 million) of the Los Angeles Rams.

The deal includes $52.3 million guaranteed, Schefter reported.

Ward, 29, is a five-time Pro Bowler.

The Browns picked Ward fourth overall out of Ohio State in 2018.

The Ohio native now anchors a Browns defence that traded defensive end Myles Garrett to the Rams in June.
