JJ Wetherholt won’t be going anywhere.
Wetherholt, 23, has enjoyed a strong start to his big-league career this season, appearing in 87 games with 13 home runs and 36 RBIs. The shortstop out of West Virginia also carries a slash line of .267/.362/.411.
Selected seventh overall in the 2024 MLB Draft, Wetherholt rose quickly through the Cardinals system as he recorded a .510 slugging percentage over two levels of the minors last year before making the MLB club this season.
St. Louis sits third in the NL Central with a 48-44 record as it looks to return to the post-season for the first time since 2022.
