Report: Gausman’s eight-team no-trade list includes multiple contenders

Kevin Gausman will have some say if he is dealt ahead of the Aug. 3 trade deadline.

The Toronto Blue Jays pitcher’s eight-team no-trade list includes the Milwaukee Brewers, Seattle Mariners, Chicago White Sox, Detroit Tigers, New York Mets, Cincinnati Reds, Pittsburgh Pirates and Athletics, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reported on Wednesday.

However, most teams likely to be interested in Gausman are still free to acquire him, per Rosenthal.

Gausman, a pending free agent, has emerged as a trade candidate amid the Blue Jays’ swoon down the standings. Toronto (46-55) sits six games out of a wild-card spot on the heels of a six-game losing streak heading into Wednesday night’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays.

The 35-year-old holds a 4-9 record, 4.51 ERA and 1.28 WHIP in what has been a down year for the typically reliable-right hander, who’s in the last season of a five-year, $110-million contract with the Blue Jays.

He made at least 31 starts in each of his first four seasons of the deal, posting an ERA under 4.00 in each year.

Three teams on Gausman’s no-trade list — the White Sox, Brewers and Pirates — held playoff spots entering action Wednesday.
