When one guard goes, another gets paid.
White’s deal comes just hours after Charlotte reportedly traded star point guard LaMelo Ball to the Minnesota Timberwolves. White, who played mostly off the ball in 21 games with the Hornets last season, now has the chance to be a lead guard.
The 26-year-old spent his first seven seasons with the Chicago Bulls before being traded to the Hornets midway through the 2025-26 season. He played just 50 games between the Bulls and Hornets last season, but averaged 20.4 points and 4.7 assists per game the season prior in Chicago.
A North Carolina native, White played in college for the UNC Tar Heels.
White, alongside backcourt-mate Kon Knueppel, will look to lead the Hornets to the playoffs for the first time since 2016.
