Tempo rookie Kiki Rice to return from injury vs. Lynx

The Toronto Tempo will be getting a big boost in their first game back from the all-star break.

Rookie Kiki Rice will make her return to the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Minnesota Lynx, the team announced.

The 22-year-old guard has not played since June 3 when she suffered an ankle sprain against the New York Liberty.

Rice was the Tempo’s first-round pick (sixth overall) in this year’s WNBA Draft, and was averaging 13.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists while shooting 55.2 per cent from the field before her injury.

She won an NCAA championship at UCLA in her senior season earlier this year.

The Tempo come out of the all-star break with a 10-16 record and sit fifth in the Eastern Conference.
