Top-ranked Sabalenka headlines women’s National Bank Open field

Top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka headlines the 96-player list for the upcoming National Bank Open at Sobeys Stadium.

The four-time Grand Slam champion from Belarus will be joined by second-ranked Elena Rybakina of Russia and third-ranked Iga Swiatek of Poland at the WTA Tour event.

Organizers say 72 of the top 75 players are entered in the Aug. 2-13 competition.

The 2025 champion, Victoria Mboko of Burlington, Ont., will not return to defend her title due to a knee injury.

World No. 180 Bianca Andreescu of Mississauga, Ont., who won the tournament in 2019, will play in the main draw as a wild-card entry.

The entry list for the ATP Tour’s National Bank Open in Montreal will be released on Thursday.
