Roch Cholowsky is heading to the South Side.
The Chicago White Sox selected Cholowsky with the first-overall pick in the 2026 MLB Draft on Saturday.
Cholowsky just finished his junior season at UCLA, where he slashed .320/.452/.636 with 21 home runs and 60 RBIs.
The 21-year-old shortstop heads to Chicago after winning the Big Ten player of the year in back-to-back seasons.
Cholowsky was also a Golden Spikes finalist in 2026.
Saturday’s selection marked the third time that the White Sox owned the top pick in franchise history. They previously drafted Danny Goodwin No. 1 in 1971 and Harold Baines first in 1977.
