Wild sign G Calvin Pickard to one-year, $1 million contract

Pickard, 34, has spent the last four seasons with the Oilers, splitting time between the NHL and AHL levels with the Bakersfield Condors.

The Moncton, N.B., native posted a 5-6-2 record with a 3.68 goals-against average and .871 save percentage in 16 NHL games with the Oilers last season. In eight games with the Condors, he had a 4-3-1 record with a 3.26 GAA and .886 save percentage.

Drafted 49th overall by Colorado in 2010, Pickard has a 74-77-14 record with a 2.95 GAA and .901 save percentage in 191 games split between the Avalanche, Maple Leafs, Flyers, Coyotes, Red Wings and Oilers.

He now joins a Wild side set to be without No. 1 goaltender Filip Gustavsson to start the 2026-27 season, as the Swede underwent hip surgery following the team’s Stanley Cup Playoffs run.

Pickard’s most meaningful moments in Edmonton came during the team’s run to the 2025 Stanley Cup Final, when he appeared in 10 games and posted an .886 save percentage. At one point that spring, over an eight-game stretch, Pickard went 7-1 for the Oilers and won games in the first, second and final round.
